Pakistanis are known allover the world for their warmth, tolerance and kindness. Some people say that Ahmadis are not treated well in Pakistan. I could not believe that and decided to interview an Ahmadiya man.
'Assalam o Alaikum,' I said.
'Walaikum Asalam,' he said.
"Why do you not believe in prophet Muhammad (SAW)?' I asked.
'We do,' he said.
'Then why do you keep saying that there is another prophet after him?' I asked.
'Because we believe in that,' he said.
'Does Pakistani state discriminate you on that basis?' I asked.
'We are not considered Muslims as per the Constitution,' he said.
'Is that why you are persecuted?' I asked.
'Maybe,' he said.
'Then why don't you simply accept that you are non Muslim and live gracefully like other minorities live in Pakistan?' I asked.
'I haven't thought about it. Thank you for guiding me sister,' he said.
That's how the issue can be resolved. If Ahmadis just accepted that they are not Muslims then there won't be any problem. Pakistan is and will always be the most tolerant nation.
